The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital, was attended by senior officials and project teams from both sides.
Discussions focused on the ongoing work, requirements for advanced construction phases, and ensuring adherence to the project’s timeline, including its eventual connection to the national electricity grid, according to a ministry statement.
Esmat reviewed the action plan for the upcoming preparations to receive major electrical equipment and large-scale generators needed for grid integration.
He stressed the importance of expanding training programmes to prepare qualified personnel for plant operations, while accelerating implementation measures to maintain project momentum.
He also underscored the need for continuous coordination between Egyptian and Russian teams,and emphasised close co-operation to meet project objectives and adhere strictly to agreed schedules, in line with Egypt’s broader energy strategy and national vision for a diversified energy mix.
The meeting addressed work progress across engineering, technical, administrative, and training aspects of the project.
The two sides confirmed that implementation is proceeding according to schedule and agreed on the importance of sustained follow-up, joint meetings, and reciprocal visits to monitor developments and ensure seamless coordination.
Minister Esmat highlighted Egypt’s commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear energy as part of its sustainable development goals, alongside efforts to enhance grid stability, improve service quality, and develop human capital through extensive training and licensing programmes for nuclear plant operators.
