Ittihad of Alexandria have accepted the resignation of head coach Tamer Mostafa by mutual consent following the team’s 1-1 draw against Kahrabaa Ismailia in the Egyptian Premier League relegation group, the club said on Friday.

In an official statement, the Alexandria-based club confirmed that Mostafa stepped down after Thursday’s match, which took place in the third round of the relegation phase, with the board approving his resignation and agreeing to terminate his contract amicably.

“The board of directors approved the resignation, and both parties agreed to terminate the contract in an atmosphere of mutual respect and appreciation,” the statement said, thanking Mostafa for his efforts during his tenure.

The club added that its board remains in continuous session until a new head coach is appointed. The name of the new coach is expected to be announced within hours.

Ittihad currently sit 10th in the relegation group standings, four points clear of the nearest relegation places.

Mostafa oversaw 23 matches in charge, recording six wins, eight draws, and nine defeats.
